“She needs her girlfriends.”
Margot Robbie is developing a Harley Quinn movie completely separate from the ones already announced.
In an interview with MTV News, Robbie revealed she has been working on the movie for the past two years, and it will feature the “girl gang” Harley was missing in Suicide Squad.
“I’ve been working on a separate spin-off for Harley for a while now,” Robbie said, going on to share her desire to see Harley with other women. “I kept saying it while we were filming Suicide Squad. I was like, ‘She needs her girlfriends.'” The movie will involve her own production company, LuckyChap Entertainment.
Currently, there are several films planned for the plucky antagonist including Suicide Squad 2, one focused on the Gotham City Sirens, and the Joker/Harley team-up movie. Although Robbie isn’t positive which movie will begin production first, she is prepared to begin resuming her role as the unhinged villainess sometime in 2018.
Previously, Robbie said the Joker/Harley romance should “end in flames,” and DC and Warner Bros. want Robbie to reprise her role in a new Harley Quinn animated series aimed at an adult audience.
