Kanye wants to put mother’s surgeon on album cover
Kanye West is ready to forgive.
The 40-year-old rapper — who has made constant headlines after returning to Twitter earlier this month — took to the platform on Saturday to reveal that he’s planning to put a photo of plastic surgeon Dr. Jan Adams on the cover of his next album. Adams performed plastic surgery on West’s mother, Donda West, just before her sudden death in 2007.
“This is my album cover. This is plastic surgeon Jan Adams. The person who performed my moms final surgery. Do you have any title ideas?” West wrote to a friend in a screenshot he posted to Twitter. “I want to forgive and stop hating.”
“LOVE EVERYONE,” the friend responded, as West revealed, “I love that.”
In 2007, Donda died just one day after undergoing a tummy tuck, liposuction and breast reduction. Adams was found not responsible for her death after an autopsy revealed she died from a pre-existing coronary artery disease along with post-op factors, including pain control medication and the tight bandaging of her chest, which may have limited her breathing.
A year and a half after Donda’s death, Adams gave up his medical license due to unrelated alcohol-related offenses. It was reinstated under probationary restrictions in 2013 but revoked in 2014. The photo West said he intends to use as his album cover is a mugshot from the doctor’s 2006 DUI arrest.
In an emotional 2015 interview with Q Magazine, West revealed that he blamed himself for his mother’s death. Asked what he had to sacrifice for his success, West replied, “My mom.” “If I had never moved to L.A., she’d be alive,” he said. “I don’t want to go far into it because it will bring me to tears.”
Last year, the rapper visited his mom’s grave in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, for the first time with his kids, North and Saint West. See more in the video below.
