A hunter in Russia has shot and killed his son, apparently after mistaking him for a moose.
The Moscow Times on Wednesday quoted an investigator as saying, “The hunter fired a rifle into a moving object in poor visibility, mistakenly believing that it was a moose.”
The incident occurred in the northern Russia district of Khanty-Mansiysk, nearly 2,000 miles east of Moscow.
“Having come closer, the hunter saw that he mortally wounded his 18-year-old son,” the investigator explained.
Neither the victim nor the father were identified. The father was charged with death caused by negligence and faces a possible prison sentence.
