An FDNY firefighter has died after he fell from a bridge in Brooklyn while responding to a car crash, law enforcement sources say.
The firefighter, who has not yet been identified, was at the scene of a car crash late Sunday and fell off the Mill Basin Bridge on the Belt Parkway trying to leap from a barrier to get to the other side, according to the sources.
He fell through a gap on the bridge and plunged around 50 feet, landing on the concrete below.
The firefighter was rushed to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Mayor de Blasio’s press security said on Twitter that the mayor is heading to the hospital.
