The Titans had a “get-to-know-you” meeting with Eric Decker on Wednesday. They must have liked what they learned.
Decker spent three seasons with the Jets but was released Monday after the team failed to find a trade partner for the 30-year-old receiver who is coming off a season-ending shoulder injury in 2016.
Married to country singer Jessie James, Decker should be a perfect fit in Nashville. He could be a nice fit for the Titans offense as well.
Tennessee drafted former Western Michigan receiver Corey Davis with the fifth overall pick of the 2017 NFL Draft. Adding Decker gives quarterback Marcus Mariota another weapon to go with Rishard Matthews, the team’s leading receiver last year, tight end Delanie Walker, and running backs DeMarco Murray and Derrick Henry.
Since 2012, Decker has three seasons of at least 1,000 receiving yards and 10 receiving touchdowns. No Titans player has one such season during that span.
