TOMS RIVER, N.J. (CBSNewYork) — Two men were killed Sunday morning when a vehicle crashed into the second floor of a building in Toms River, New Jersey.
It happened around 6:30 a.m. on Hooper Avenue.
Police say 22-year-old Braden DeMartin, of Toms River, was behind the wheel of the 2010 Porsche Boxster convertible at the time of the crash.
DeMartin was allegedly speeding when he lost control of the vehicle and hit the center median before he struck an embankment, causing the vehicle to become airborne and slam into the building.
Both DeMartin and his passenger, 23-year-old Daniel Foley, of Toms River, were killed in the crash.
Police say the building was unoccupied at the time.
A building inspector deemed the structure unsafe.
Hooper Avenue was closed between Indian Hill Road and College Drive until about 1:30 p.m.
