One person was killed and five others were wounded in a central Phoenix hotel shooting Sunday, officials said.
The shooting happened at the Pay Less Inn near 25th and Van Buren streets shortly before 11:30 a.m.,Phoenix police spokesman Sgt. Armando Carbajal said.
Two adult males arrived at the hotel and got into an argument with a group on the second floor, Carbajal said. One of the men then pulled out a handgun and fired multiple shots.
Carbajal said six people — including the shooter — were shot. Five people were transported to the hospital, where an 18-year-old woman was pronounced dead. Three of the victims were in critical condition Sunday afternoon.
He described the victims as three males and three females ranging from 18 to 41 years old.
Police are still searching for the other man who arrived with the shooter, Carbajal said. Investigators do not believe he is a threat to the community, he said.
Anyone with information should call the Phoenix Police Department at 480-WITNESS or 480-TESTIGO for Spanish.
Twenty-fifth street was closed from East Van Buren to Adams street while police investigated the scene.
